01The brief

A rudder stock and stern tube under class survey

A container feeder vessel needed a new rudder stock and stern tube, made and tested under class society survey to meet the yard's docking slot.

We forged the rudder stock from our own ingot, heat treated and machined both parts and tested them with the surveyor on site. Material certificates, UT reports and the surveyor’s release travelled with the parts.

02What we did

Made and tested under survey

  • Forged the rudder stock from an ingot poured in-house
  • Quenched and tempered, then machined to the class-approved drawing
  • Ultrasonically tested with the class surveyor witnessing
  • Shipped with material certificates, UT reports and the surveyor's release
